This spike in arrivals has inspired investment. Mexico’s secretary of tourism reported that the country’s federal government has invested more than $3 billion into new tourism projects.
According to the National Institute of Migration, in 2010, the U.S. has been the main market source for travelers into Mexico, with 583,732 Americans arriving in the country, an impressive 20 percent increase in comparison to 2009.
