With a new $20 million investment, Sandos Caracol Eco Resort will be renovating its 639-room Family Section with the goal of appealing to multigenerational travelers. The all-inclusive resort, located in Playa del Carmen, plans to continue its efforts toward sustainable vacationing via its Signature Eco Collection, which will use LED lighting, certified eco-friendly materials and a recycling system for gray water. Local companies and contractors will also contribute to an upgraded heating system, which will not have to rely on natural gas. Guests can enjoy the guestrooms’ earthy tones and rustic wooden features, as well as vibrant Caribbean-inspired accents. When staying in the Signature Eco Junior Suite, families will have personal plunge pools and bunk beds; additional room categories include the Signature Eco Superior and Signature Eco Deluxe. Starting Dec. 23, more than 90 new rooms will be available for booking, with rates from $247 per person, per night.
