What: Los Cabos Projects a 20% Growth in Visitation
The Los Cabos Tourism Board recently announced that the destination is set to achieve a 20% growth year-over-year in visitor numbers for 2022. The destination expects to welcome 3.3 million visitors by the year’s end, marking a 32% compounded growth over the last five years with 800,000 more visitors than in 2017.
Why It Matters: Los Cabos Is an Especially Important Destination for West Coast Clients
For West Coast advisors and their clients, Los Cabos has always been a popular vacation choice due to its proximity and its constant infusion of new high-quality hotels and experiences. This reported growth — which includes more than 1.3 million seats from the U.S. scheduled for the next six months — represents a 35.2% increase compared to the same period in 2019. It’s clear that the destination’s marketing programs and updated tourism offerings are continuing to captivate visitors while consistently delivering a quality experience.
What They Are Saying: The Steep Rise in Visitors Is Being Matched With Sustainable Choices
"As Los Cabos’ tourism is on a steep rise, it is not lost on us that our destination increasingly requires more care and protection,” said Rodrigo Esponda, managing director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board. "We take a holistic approach in the sustainability of Los Cabos. Sustainability is no longer about small practices we are implementing, but rather a guiding principle on the type of destination we want to be as we care for the environment, community, culture and more.”
