At the ING New York City Marathon, the Brazil Tourism Board promoted the country’s 2012 Rio de Janeiro Marathon. Brazil ambassadors cruised around the New York course — stopping in Central Park, Times Square, Columbus Circle and Union Square — in an effort to promote the 2012 marathon and half-marathon.
Brazil expects 44,000 runners to the country’s event next year. In addition to the marathon and half-marathon, Rio de Janeiro will also be hosting the Olympikus Family Run, a 6 kilometer run in Aterro do Flamengo.
Currently, the United States is the second largest source of tourists to Brazil.
