A year after suspending its tours and cruises due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tauck today announced plans to fully restart its U.S. tours by July 1.
The upscale guided travel company made the decision following the success of several January and February departures of its Wonderland: Yellowstone in Winter itinerary, which operated with new health and safety measures in place.
“Guests told us they loved their tours, and their positive feedback proved conclusively that we can deliver a true Tauck-level experience while still following all of the appropriate health and safety protocols,” said Dan Mahar, CEO of Tauck.
In addition to the Yellowstone tours earlier this year, Tauck has also already started running departures of its Southern Charms: Savannah, Hilton Head and Charleston tour. Next up, the company will relaunch its New Orleans & Mississippi River Country itinerary (slated to kick off this month), as well as restart other popular tours “in the coming months.” Information on specific 2021 departures can be found on the new Open for Travel page of Tauck’s website.
All of Tauck’s 2021 tours feature a slate of new health and safety protocols that the company has put in place. Measures include the mandatory use of masks, social distancing whenever possible and enhanced cleaning and disinfecting procedures. Travelers will also be required to complete and sign a “Travel Well Pledge,” which confirms that they are either vaccinated against COVID-19 or have produced a negative PCR test result within five days of departure; that they are free of any virus-related symptoms; and that they have not been in close contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19. Advisors and travelers can visit Tauck’s Travel and Health page to learn more.
The restart announcement comes at a time when pent-up demand for travel is reaching new heights and domestic destinations are rising in popularity.
In fact, Tauck notes that a recent survey of more than 5,000 guests booked with the operator from now through September revealed the overwhelming majority (88%) are eager to travel on their upcoming Tauck trip as planned. In addition, a full 95% of respondents indicated that they have already been vaccinated, and another 2% have their vaccinations scheduled.
A statement from the company noted that it hopes to also provide an update on select international itineraries in the coming weeks.
