American Cruise Lines has announced the guest speakers that will be featured onboard its 2013 Alaska Inside Passage cruises. Well-regarded authors, historians and naturalists are set to offer their expertise and insight on a range of topics, scenery and ports of call on next season's Alaska cruises.
Featured guest speakers include historian Todd Weber, sharing history about those who have braved the Last Frontier; natural resources interpreter and historian Ian Sampson, to help guests gain an understanding of the areas' history, culture, geology, geography, flora and fauna; and biologist Tom Stanley, who has vast knowledge of natural resources and the environment developed over his 35 years of professional experience.
"Having our guest speakers aboard is really helpful to passengers - it gives context to what they're seeing," said Timothy Beebe, vice president, American Cruise Lines. "We are excited for our guests to spend time with these fascinating personalities."
To complement the new lineup of guest speakers on visits to Glacier Bay, a park service ranger and native cultural interpreter will join passengers to help them spot wildlife and to share traditional songs, stories and history of the local Huna Tlingit people.
American Cruise Lines will offer seven- and 11-night Alaskan itineraries onboard the 100-passenger American Spirit.
