The Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA)is aiming to attract visitors to Alaska via a new series of television commercials. The 30-second commercials are designed to give potential visitors a fresh image of Alaska, including modern adventure activities and Alaska’s breathtaking natural scenery.
“Alaska’s target audience values vacations as one of life’s greatest rewards,” said Kathy Dunn, marketing director for ATIA. “The ads remind people that Alaska is someplace they have always dreamed of visiting, while highlighting the imagery that attracts visitors to Alaska.”
The commercials will run on popular national cable channels such as the National Geographic Channel, History Channel, Travel Channel, Fox News and Discovery Channel through March.
“It’s important for Alaska to maintain its visibility as the economy improves,” said Ron Peck, president of ATIA. “Other destinations are marketing aggressively, and we need to be competitive to keep the industry on a track to recovery to pre-recession levels.”
The Alaska Travel Industry Association is also launching other initiatives to attract visitors to Alaska, including a new website, TravelAlaska.com, featuring interactive maps and upgraded trip planning tools.
