The Nines, a 331-room Luxury Collection hotel, is due to open in downtown Portland this September. The Starwood Hotels & Resorts property will occupy the top nine floors of the historic Meier & Frank Building. A newly renovated Macy’s department store will fill the bottom levels.
A distinctive part of this renovation is the creation of an atrium which will give all the hotel rooms — even those on the interior — access to natural light and a view. Interior rooms will overlook the glass-roofed lobby, while the exterior rooms will have views of the city.
There will also be an atrium restaurant on the lobby level, a rooftop lounge, a ballroom and 7,000 square-feet of conference, meeting and banquet facilities.
New energy-saving, water-saving and other environmentally friendly innovations have been made while preserving the elegant details of the historic 1908 Meier & Frank Building.
