This month, Virtuoso Travel Week, one of the top luxury events in the travel industry, returned as an in-person event, with an additional virtual option.
The 33rd annual conference drew more than 3,300 attendees from 102 countries — with 1,500 in person at the Bellagio Resort & Casino, Aria Resort & Casino and Vdara Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas, and another 1,800 joining virtually. The group of luxury travel advisors and suppliers participated in nearly 82,000 one-to-one networking appointments, as well as a full roster of professional development sessions. Virtuoso Week’s opening ceremony was focused on the theme “Imagine What Can Be.”
“Disruptions accelerate trends, whether to the upside or downside,” said Matthew D. Upchurch, chairman and CEO of Virtuoso. “Despite this global pause in travel, two of the most powerful upside trends are completely in our favor. First is the value of travel itself, because nothing motivates humans like taking something away that they took for granted. And the second is the value of travel advisors. The heroic efforts of advisors during the pandemic only widened the gap with do-it-yourself [travelers].”
