As part of its DR Tourism Roadshow, which started last year, the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism made a stop in Houston on Feb. 17.
More than 300 local travel agencies and tour operators attended the event to receive firsthand information on the state of tourism in the destination, as well as to learn about the island’s diverse offerings for visitors.
The Ministry of Tourism launched its roadshow program in August 2021 in a new effort to reconnect with leaders of the tourism industry in different markets and boost the Dominican Republic’s travel profile. Led by David Collado, minister of tourism, events have also been held in other U.S. destinations, including New York, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta and Chicago, as well as a European event in Madrid. During the Houston stop, Collado held meetings with airlines, tour operators, travel advisors and travel agency associations.
