It’s Legoland California Resort’s birthday, but guests are getting the presents. In addition to free admission for kids under 12 on their own birthdays, Legoland California’s birthday party — which will be held on a yet-to-be-announced date in March — will feature a massive 7-foot cake made from more than 51,000 Lego bricks.
“In honor of our 20th birthday, we’re excited to host a special birthday bash to commemorate the park’s first opening day,” said Jake Gonzales, senior media relations manager for Legoland California. “Plus, there’s plenty more on the horizon.”
The yearlong party includes The Lego Movie Days on Feb. 16-17 and 23-24, when the heroes of the Lego film series return to the park to celebrate the opening of “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” with photo ops, a themed scavenger hunt and a Lego-building activity. Plus, there are plans in the works for an exclusive park attraction in conjunction with the movie’s opening.
The celebration also introduces Lego City 4D - Officer in Pursuit, a new multimedia adventure; the reopening of the interactive Duplo Playtown, with a new Legoland Express train; and an all-new Lego Friends live show and dance party.

“It’s incredible to think about all we’ve accomplished in 20 years, and the kids we have positively impacted at the resort,” said Peter Ronchetti, general manager of Legoland California.
