In response to the growing influence of Gen Alpha (children born between 2010 and 2024), Beaches Resorts conducted a survey to understand how this generation shapes family travel decisions.

With Gen Alpha expected to become the largest demographic globally, the survey aimed to uncover their preferences and influence on vacation choices.

According to the survey:

- Gen Alpha children influence destinations: 85% of Gen Alpha children have a say in where their families go on vacation.

- Gen Alpha children prefer multi-generational travel: 71% of Gen Alpha children express a desire to travel with their grandparents.

- Families with Gen Alpha kids travel often: Despite their young age, 64% of families with Gen Alpha children take two or more trips per year.

- Gen Alpha kids like to play with their parents: 55% of Gen Alpha children prefer participating in activities with their parents over those with peers.

- Family bonding is a priority: 70% of kids aged 11 and older prefer spending time with their parents during vacations.

- Learning is a priority: On vacation, 53% of Gen Alpha children are interested in learning new skills such as swimming, languages, surfing, scuba diving, art and skiing.

Additionally, the survey highlights the preferred vacation styles of Gen Alpha, with the top style being beach vacations (36%), followed by theme parks (32%), historical sites (14%), urban cities (9%) and natural wonders (9%).

Recognizing the significance of Gen Alpha in shaping the future of family travel, Beaches Resorts has introduced new initiatives to cater to this demographic. Beaches Negril, for example, recently unveiled luxury beachfront villas designed specifically for families. These accommodations offer posh living spaces, private pools and direct beach access, enhancing the family vacation experience. Beaches Resorts also provides a wide range of kid and family-friendly activities, such as Sesame Street Sunrise Yoga and Reading Road Trips in local communities, ensuring there are engaging options for all ages.
