SPOTLIGHT: MAUI 
06.13-17: Maui Film Festival. Like Cannes and Sundance, Maui’s annual movie extravaganza capitalizes on its surroundings with island-style food and wine events and film premieres under the stars. Celebrity sightings add to the sizzle.

HAWAII ISLAND 
06.1-3: Big Island Jazz and Blues Festival. Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is a hot spot, with Grammy Award-winners and Blues Hall of Famers jamming on an oceanfront stage.

06.16-24: Kona Marathon Events. This peppy celebration spans two weekends at Waikoloa Beach Resort, from a June 16 kids’ run and June 23 fitness fair to the June 24 full, half and quarter marathon and 5K.

KAUAI
06.3: Taste of Hawaii. Hungry hordes head to Smith’s Tropical Paradise for this savory culinary event presented by Kapaa’s Rotary Club. Clients sample entrees, desserts and drinks from dozens of booths, with proceeds going toward a number of local causes.

06.9: King’s Parade and Celebration. In honor of Kamehameha, Hawaii’s first king, a parade of performers, floats and costumed horseback riders entertain crowds, followed by a hoolaulea (outdoor party) at Lihue’s historic County Building.

MAUI
06.7-10: Kapalua Wine and Food Festival. Winemakers, sommeliers, chefs and connoisseurs gather in northwest Maui for a weekend of cooking demonstrations, panels and soirees centered around victuals and varietals.

OAHU 
06.8-10: Pan-Pacific Festival. Waikiki wows clients during this free showcase of music and dance from around the Pacific Rim.

06.30: Waimea Valley Summer Concert Series. The botanical and cultural attraction on Oahu’s North Shore sets the stage for Hawaiian music and hula. Additional concerts take place on July 28 and Aug. 25.
