Producer and director Steven Spielberg has used Kauai as a filming location for all four of his Jurassic movies, including this summer’s blockbuster “Jurassic World.” Kauai Visitors Bureau (KVB) recently thanked him for his support of the island with a video tribute (available on YouTube). Created by a Kauai-based production team, the video — called “Mahalo Nui Loa (Thank You Very Much) Steven Spielberg” — shows island residents holding banners of appreciation while standing at Jurassic shooting sites, such as Jurassic Kahili Ranch, Allerton Garden, Limahuli Garden and Manawaiopuna Falls, now nicknamed Jurassic Falls.
“We have visitors who come here saying they want to see the places where the dinosaurs roamed,” said Sue Kanoho, executive director for KVB. “The impact has been amazing in showcasing the beauty of Kauai.”
