If there’s one thing that stands out about Hilton Puerto Vallarta Resort, it’s the hotel’s prime location. Located just a short drive from the area’s iconic “malecon” (waterfront promenade), the beautiful neighborhood of Gringo Gulch and local nightlife, the AAA Four Diamond property offers all the benefits and luxury of an all-inclusive without being too far from the city’s best attractions and amazing restaurants.
Of course, that’s only a plus if guests want to leave the resort — and Hilton Puerto Vallarta does its best to make clients want to stay. I stayed in one of the hotel’s newest guestroom areas that feature open-air hallways and rooms with balconies overlooking the pool and beach. I was impressed by the room’s modern decor and rainfall shower, as well as the panoramas from my balcony. In addition to my ocean view, I also had front-row seats to a fireworks show when a wedding occurred during my stay.
The on-site dining venues are another reason to stick to the resort. I was quite taken with La Catrina, the property’s Mexican restaurant. The chef crafts local specialties infused with his own heritage; when guests try the tacos — or even the mojitos — they’re able to taste the care and history behind each dish and drink.
Another restaurant that’s a must-taste is O West Sunset Lounge — the only adults-only portion of the hotel — which serves fresh sushi and tapas. O West features an infinity pool and is a prime location for both people- and whale-watching.
But it’s the hotel’s signature eatery, Sea Fire All Day Restaurant, that guests are likely to make their home base throughout a stay. The spot serves a delicious brunch with plenty of healthful, fresh juices, in addition to a buffet-style lunch and dinner.
For those bringing the little ones, Hilton Puerto Vallarta features a fun and bright kids’ club with its own pool. The club offers a long list of lively activities, such as disco dancing and singing contests, that may have adults wishing they had their own equivalent.
I was also impressed by the hotel’s two-story fitness center, which is impeccably clean and has plenty of equipment. In addition, the gym also plays host to various fitness classes for anyone interested in doing a little yoga in between snacking on sushi and hitting the pool.
But for those looking to do the opposite of working out, Hilton Puerto Vallarta also has Ki Spa. The spa features both wet and dry treatments, a “Mommy and Me” spa experience and a romance package for honeymooning couples. Of note is the hotel’s “floatarium,” — the only of its kind on the Mexican Pacific Coast — where guests can indulge in some floatation therapy.
Whether clients want to luxuriate at their resort or get out and hit the town — or do both — Hilton Puerto Vallarta is a perfect fit.
