Since opening in 2009, Koa Kea Hotel & Resort has proven that bigger isn’t always better. As one of Kauai’s top boutique properties, the 121-room south shore hideaway specializes in intimate vacations by the sea.

“Our resort is quiet and peaceful, yet it still has direct access to major surf and snorkel spots, hiking, waterfalls and other natural and cultural wonders,” said general manager Jack Slim. “Our team seeks to anticipate guest needs by getting to know each and every one to create a personalized experience.

Koa Kea is sweetening its offerings as it celebrates 10 years. In the next few months, the Poipu hotel will set up a stargazing station near its oceanfront fire pits. And The Spa at Koa Kea will introduce Ke Ola Kino, a customized body indulgence featuring a CBD enhancement; and a poolside treatment that combines an exfoliating foot scrub, a cool towel wrap and an essential oil massage.

Rest assured that Koa Kea’s rooms will still pamper clients with amenities such as Nespresso machines, complimentary bottles of wine, minifridges and free Wi-Fi access. Award-winning Red Salt restaurant — helmed by chef Noelani Planas, a Kauai native — will also continue serving fresh, local ingredients in creative preparations.

To kick off a new decade, the hotel is promoting the Golden Celebration package, which provides up to $525 in resort credit. Other new deals include Blockbuster Kauai — which features a helicopter tour for two to Jurassic Falls, a Kauai movie book and a $100 dining credit — and Kauai Wanderlust, where guests choose from a surfing lesson and luau for two; a $200 dining credit and $50 daily pool credit; or an oceanside couples massage.

While Koa Kea improves, its overall goal remains the same, Slim says.

“We hope guests leave with a feeling of rejuvenation and a sense of authentic aloha hospitality,” he said.
