Since being acquired by Interval Acquisition Corp., an
affiliated company of Interval International, ResortQuest Hawaii
has developed and initiated an ambitious strategic plan focused on
expanding and enhancing its product mix in 2008 by broadening its
moderate and upscale product offerings.
“Our intent is to shape the future in phases,” said Kelvin
Bloom, president of ResortQuest Hawaii. “The first stage of our
repositioning includes expanding our portfolio of properties to
reflect a product offering that will be more consistent with our
expansion goals. By doing so, we anticipate healthy growth not only
in Hawaii, but outside the state as well.”
To that end, ResortQuest Hawaii is now providing management
services to both the Aloha Beach Hotel on Kauai and the Ilikai
Hotel in Waikiki.
The Aloha Beach Hotel will be renamed the ResortQuest Aloha
Beach Resort as it completes a multi-million dollar renovation
providing a completely new look for the Kauai property.
Improvements will include renovated guestrooms, porte cochere,
lobby and restaurants, along with a newly surfaced pool area and
upgraded landscaping.
Previously operated independently by its owner, Anekona, LLC,
the 216-room beachfront resort is conveniently located to local
shopping, island-wide activities and attractions and to Kauai’s
only protected swimming and snorkeling beach.
ResortQuest Hawaii is also providing enhanced management
services and capabilities for the Ilikai, which is operated by an
affiliate of Anekona, LLC. Substantial renovation plans are under
final review and will reflect the hotel’s pioneering history.
As Hawaii’s first luxury high-rise, the Y-shaped, three-winged
structure was an architectural landmark for Waikiki. The hotel’s
angular lines, innovative use of pre-cast/pre-stressed concrete, as
well as its white and turquoise facade are as distinctive today as
when originally built.
“We are very pleased to be involved with this celebrated hotel
that forever changed the landscape of Waikiki when built,” said
Bloom. “And we’re equally pleased to introduce it to a new
generation of upscale savvy travelers to Hawaii seeking hip design,
comfort and amenities.”
Easily accessible, the Ilikai is situated just one block from
the Hawaii Convention Center, Ala Moana Shopping Center and minutes
from downtown Honolulu. The hotel is best known for the sweeping
shot of actor Jack Lord as “Steve McGarrett” standing on his
penthouse balcony in the opening sequence of Hawaii Five-O.
“These additions to our portfolio exemplify our full commitment
to our repositioning and growth plans,” said Bloom. “One is
currently under renovation and the other will go through extensive
improvements which will make each a highly sought after resort
option on their respective islands, as well as provide our
customers yet another way to experience ‘our Hawaii your way.’”
Bloom went on to note that ResortQuest’s plans for upgrading its
product mix do not include the management of the Honolulu Prince
and Waikiki Beachside.
With over 60 years of experience in Hawaii, ResortQuest Hawaii
has emerged as the leading provider of hotels and condominium
resorts in the market. Today, the company manages 28 properties
throughout the state with an inventory of over 5,000 rooms across
an assortment of hotels, condominium suites, villas and cottages.
The Hawaii-based company employs 1,500 associates on the islands of
Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii, realizing 1.2
million guests annually.
