Dance the Night Away in Mexico's Top Clubs

Dancing is a natural way to express joy, and Mexico offers ample opportunities for vacationers to show their happiness. Such venues range from on-site hotel nightclubs to popular hot spots in major tourist destinations around the nation.

Here are a few places to dance the night away in Mexico.

Cancun
The Hotel Zone is the epicenter of nightlife in Cancun, so it’s not difficult to find places to let loose. At Coco Bongo, DJs spin everything from hip hop to trance and pop, as well as throwbacks from the 1970s through the early 2000s. Visitors to Coco Bongo might even witness acrobats flying across the room, circus acts on the stage or perhaps a live dance tribute to the golden age of disco.

Various hotels offer their own brand of nighttime excitement as well. Noir, a nightclub at Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort, is decked out with impressive lighting and sound systems and a variety of musical styles.

Los Cabos
Among the nightlife options in Los Cabos is Rockstone Tavern & Eatery, a combination sports bar, restaurant and live music venue that serves tasty bar food and live music nearly every night of the week. Cabo Blue combines food with music as well, switching between rock and dance music during the evenings.

Mexico City
The capital of Mexico may not have beaches, but it has more nightlife than any other metropolis — not a surprise, since it’s one of the largest cities in the world. There’s something for just about every taste here, ranging from Irish-style venues from Celtics Pub in the Condesa district to Bulldog Cafe, a three-floor nightclub that has welcomed rock bands including Guns N’ Roses, Poison and Radiohead.

For a different dance experience, head to Mama Rumba, which has locations in the Polanco, Roma and San Angel districts, where salsa and cumbia music often rules the floor, and dance classes are sometimes offered.

Playa del Carmen
The Riviera Maya is a lovely place to relax on the beach, but it can also be a great place to have some after-dark fun — especially in the town of Playa del Carmen.

Top choices include Brahma Club, where up to 1,200 revelers can move to the beat of noteworthy DJs. At Coco Bongo, the entertainment includes everything from acrobats to celebrity impersonators. Meanwhile, at Coco Maya Beach & Night Club, a dance floor sits right on the beach and local DJs spin hip-hop and Latin music below a massive thatch-roofed palapa, so patrons won’t forget they are in paradise as they enjoy the latest in electronic music. Or, for a trip back in musical time, consider Diablito Cha Cha Cha, a bar that specializes in retro-cool funk, house music and hip hop.

Puerto Vallarta
On Mexico’s Pacific coast, Puerto Vallarta is one of the best places to spend a night on the town. At Collage Club, the Tuesday foam party packs in a slightly wet crowd of partiers, while cage dancers, an acrobatic show and a video game arcade round out the fun throughout the week. A giant video screen and LED dance floor light up the night at Roo, which is conveniently located near the iconic seahorse statue on the boardwalk.

Punto V is a restaurant during the daytime and into the early evening, but at night it becomes a lively nightclub with some of the city’s best DJs. Visitors head to Punto V’s Sky Bar and Lounge for beautiful views of the bay.
