What: 137 Million Americans Plan to Travel for Labor Day
A new survey from online media site The Vacationer shows 137 million American adults (53%) plan to travel for Labor Day this year, even though 75% of respondents (194 million adults) say COVID-19 and the Delta variant are either a big concern or a slight concern. The number of Labor Day travelers is a slight increase over those on the Fourth of July (53% versus 51%), and it is a major increase over the respondents who traveled this Memorial Day (21%).
Why It Matters: Americans Continue to Travel Despite Delta Variant Concern
Three out of every four American adults say the Delta variant is either a slight concern (47.29%) or a big concern (28.02%) when considering Labor Day plans. Since it is almost a certainty that we will be living with COVID-19 and its variants for some time, it is a good sign that travelers are willing to take to the road despite their concerns. As long as travel advisors help clients feel safe, they should be open to booking vacations once again.
