Cirque du Soleil’s latest creation, Amaluna, is set to make its U.S. premiere in Seattle this winter.
On Jan. 31, 2013, Marymoor Park will be home to the world-famous entertainment organization for six weeks.
Amaluna is the name of the mysterious island where the coming-of-age love story unfolds. A combination of the words ama, meaning “mother,” and luna, meaning “moon,” Amaluna evokes the femininity and goddess-centric themes of the production. The cast is predominantly female and the show features an all-female band.
Amaluna premiered in Montreal, Canada, in April 2012 and will be the eighth big Cirque du Soleil production to visit Seattle since 1990.
