Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo recently welcomed the arrival of a variety of little critters including baby jaguars, lions, sloth bears and otters.
In January 2013, the zoo saw the birth of two Asian small-clawed otters, the smallest otter species in the world. They will be featured in the upcoming Asian Tropical Forest exhibit opening this May.
The zoo also recently welcomed quadruplet African lion cubs, now on view from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. daily; and twin sloth bear toddlers.
On March 24, a seven-year-old jaguar mother Nayla and 14-year-old jaguar father Junior welcomed triplet jaguars. Jaguar births are very rare and this is the first jaguar offspring at the Woodland Park Zoo since 1994.
The jaguar cubs will remain off view to the public until they are coordinated enough to navigate the outdoor exhibit. The cubs weighed between 25 and 29 ounces at birth and are expected to nurse until they are five to six months old.
