Amtrak Vacations and VIA Rail Canada Team Up

Apr 26, 2015

What:
Yankee Leisure Group (YLG) and VIA Rail Canada have partnered on new itineraries across all Yankee Leisure Group brands (Amtrak Vacations, Unique Rail Journeys and Yankee Holidays).

Why It Matters:
The new tourism packages on VIA Rail for North American travelers will allow travel agents to earn commission across Canadian and inter-North American rail bookings through YLG and Amtrak Vacations. This comes in addition to YLG’s partnership with the U.K.’s Great Rail Journeys, further expanding its reach internationally in rail-based vacation travel.

Fast Facts:
- The three new packages will operate most days in any direction.

- The Canadian Rockies vacation package will feature Vancouver, Victoria, Jasper, Lake Louise, Banff and Calgary and other important sites in between the cities.

- The Cross Canada vacation package will begin in Toronto and Niagara Falls before a three night journey to the Canadian Rockies ending in Vancouver.

- The Capitol to Capitol vacation package will begin in Toronto and go to Ottawa before heading to Montreal. The trip ends with departures to New York City through Philadelphia and to Washington D.C.

What They Are Saying:
“Strengthening our partnership with YLG is a great opportunity for VIA Rail Canada to introduce our product to new travelers across North America,” said Martin Landry, CCO of VIA Rail Canada. “These new itineraries not only provide great value but also a unique opportunity to combine our network with Amtrak’s to offer two nation rail vacations in one simple transaction.”

Frank Marini, president of YLG said, “With our Amtrak Vacations brand, our travel agent partners in the U.S. and Canada can connect from any of the 500 Amtrak stations across the United States to these new VIA Rail packages, and also earn commission by booking Amtrak and VIA through us.”
