SPOTLIGHT: HAWAII ISLAND
10.14: Ironman World Championship. Some of the world’s best athletes head to Kailua-Kona for this triple challenge: a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run. Supporters cheer along the course and at the finish line for the 2,000 hardy participants.

KAUAI

10.7-8: Coconut Festival. Locals and visitors get a little nutty during this irresistible party honoring one of Hawaii’s favorite fruits. Kapaa Beach Park comes to life with games, cooking demonstrations, a petting zoo, live music and a coconut-pie-eating contest.

10.20-21: Kauai Chocolate and Coffee Festival. Lovers of the bar and bean find plenty to like at this annual celebration in Hanapepe. Clients learn about the two agricultural products — both of which are grown on Kauai — through displays, demonstrations, tours and tastings.

MAUI 
10.5-8: Maui Fair. Going strong for 95 years, this timeless Wailuku event boasts traditional lures such as fairway rides, entertainment and livestock exhibits. Additional highlights include a pie-baking competition, a baby-of-the-year contest and a parade.

10.13-15: Maui Marathon. Foot races of various lengths draw serious runners and casual joggers alike to this popular event, famed for its ultra-scenic course. A pre-race health and fitness expo warms up the crowd at Westin Maui Resort and Spa.

OAHU 
10.1: Vintage Collectibles and Hawaiiana Show. Souvenir shoppers flock to this one-day show and sale, billed as the biggest vintage collectibles store in Hawaii. Nearly 100 tables fill Honolulu’s Blaisdell Center with the likes of aloha shirts, ukuleles, comic books, coins and estate jewelry.

10.7: Kahumana Farm Festival. Now in its fifth year, this west Oahu event celebrates all things local, from crops and crafts to artists and musicians. Clients can browse and buy products and food from 60 vendors and enter a raffle to win prizes.
