The adults-only El Dorado Maroma resort in Riviera Maya, a member of the Karisma Hotels & Resorts collection, will be home to Latin America's first overwater bungalows this fall.
Officially referred to as the Palafitos – Overwater Bungalows, the elegant suites are expected to be completed and ready for guests by Sept. 1, with rates starting at $665 per adult, per night. The property is a Gourmet Inclusive resort, so the price includes gourmet cuisine, premium drinks, personalized service and activities.
Reservations can only be made through Karisma's Gourmet Inclusive Vacation Consultants who have already sold El Dorado Spa Resorts & Hotels by Karisma and Generations Resorts by Karisma through Sept. 1. Agents will receive a 21 percent commission on all bookings.
"I have been in the business a very long time, and this is one of the most extraordinary acts I've witnessed — giving a select group of valued partners the rights to launch, promote and sell the industry's most anticipated and innovative product," said Armando Chomat, vice president of Premier Worldwide Marketing, the worldwide representative for Karisma Hotels & Resorts.
The bungalows will overlook the waters of Riviera Maya's Maroma Beach, which was named one of the top 10 beaches in the world by Travel Channel.
Each of the 30 overwater bungalows will feature glass-bottom floors, an indoor Jacuzzi for two, a private infinity pool, direct ladder access to the ocean, an “Aguas del Amor” outdoor shower and an oversize deck with wooden lounge chairs. Guests will have access to the Gourmet Inclusive Overwater Ocean Grill & Wine Bar, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from an open kitchen grill.
“El Dorado Maroma’s Palafitos – Overwater Bungalows are the most exquisite and unique suites in the entire region, with the ocean and renowned Maroma Beach literally at your fingertips," Chomat said. "These are the first and only over-the-water offerings in all of Latin America, eliciting a one-of-a-kind experience for travelers seeking the ultimate luxury getaway, whether it’s to celebrate a honeymoon, birthday or anniversary, or for no reason at all but to become immersed in nature and be pampered with the finest hospitality. It is an unforgettable must-visit destination."
Guests can also take advantage of other inclusive offerings simply by taking a quick walk across the beach to the main resort, which is host to three pools, six restaurants and four bars. Complimentary activities range from dancing, yoga and beach volleyball to kayaking, bocce ball and cooking lessons.
While there are plans to build beyond the first phase of 30 elegant suites, a construction timeline for additional bungalows has yet to be finalized, according to a spokesperson for Karisma Hotels & Resorts.
