Guests at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita have yet another great
reason to hit the beach a chance to get up-close and personal with
playful sea lions. The resort’s new Sea Lion Snorkel Encounter
offers visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get acquainted
with these lovable and playful creatures in their natural
open-ocean habitat.
One of the few places in the world to offer such a program, Four
Seasons Punta Mita has focused its Sea Lion Snorkel Encounter on
education and personal interaction. The experience begins on Las
Cuevas Beach with a short lesson in sea lion physiology and
behavior.
Trainers then lead guests on a short snorkel adventure through
Punta Mita’s clear warm waters, pointing out interesting marine
life along the way. Upon reaching the sea lion area, participants
have the opportunity to play, pet, shake a flipper and even receive
a big fishy sea lion kiss.
“Sea lions are fascinating to watch both above and below the water
because they are so playful and comical,” said Abel Reyes, a sea
lion trainer. “Their willingness to include humans in their games
is what makes the sea lion encounter so exhilarating and memorable
for guests.”
The 30-minute programs are operated on Saturdays at 11 a.m. and
12:30 p.m. The fee is $130 per person, which covers all snorkel
gear and instruction.
The Sea Lion Snorkel Encounter is just one of many activities
offered to guests at the Four Seasons property. Those with an
active mindset can pursue golf, tennis, scuba diving, surfing
lessons and energizing yoga. More relaxing options include spa
treatments at the full-service Apuane Spa or learning about
Mexico’s past, present and future at the Cultural Center.
Through Oct. 31, the resort’s Sunsational 4th Night Free package
provides guests booking three nights a complimentary fourth night.
