Beginning Nov. 1, guests to Riu Hotels & Resorts in Mexico can
soak up the sun and the savings with perks at select golf courses.
From unlimited free golf for guests of Riu Palace Las Americas to
50 percent savings for all guests of Riu hotels in Cancun and
Riviera Maya, savings are available through Oct. 31, 2006.
Hurricane Emily spared the Riu properties in the
Yucatan Peninsula. The resorts, which maintained power and services
throughout the severe weather, received little damage. Riu resorts
in Cancun and Playa del Carmen are open and fully operational.

guests and employees,” said Miguel Violan, communications manager
for Riu Hotels & Resorts. “Being prepared makes all the
difference.”
Developed and implemented in 1996, Riu Hotels &
Resorts has a Hurricane Preparedness Manual and Team at each
property.
Along the Caribbean coast of Cancun and the Riviera
Maya, guests at any of the eight Riu resorts in the area will enjoy
50 percent savings off rack rates at the Jack Nicklaus-designed
Mayan Palace Golf Riviera Maya.
Guests of Riu Palace Las Americas, a 368-room
upscale oceanfront resort in Cancun, will receive unlimited free
golf at Pok Ta Pok Golf Club. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.,
the course weaves along a dramatic shoreline and ancient Mayan
ruins. The property also offers its guests a 25 percent discount on
green fees at the Hilton Golf Club and a 10 percent discount at the
Hilton Pro Golf Shop.
Those staying at Riu Cancun and Riu Caribe, two
oceanfront resorts located in Cancun, will receive the same
discounts at the Hilton club, as well as a 25 percent discount on
green fees Pok Ta Pok Golf Club.
On Mexico’s west coast, guests of the recently
opened 846-room Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas enjoy reduced rates at
the Raven Golf Club, an 18-holer carved from the natural Cabo San
Lucas mountain and desert terrain. Depending on the season and time
of day, rates are from $50 per round.
In Puerto Vallarta, guests of Riu Jalisco can soak
up savings at Flamingos Golf Club from Nov. 1 through April 30,
2006. Tee times are $72 before 3 p.m. and $60 after 3 p.m.. Times
can be booked in advance or upon arrival at the hotel.
