I don’t mind admitting that my favorite amenity at Conrad Seoul was the nighttime view of the city skyline. In fact, one of the first things I did right after checking into my room was turn out every light and sit in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows to marvel at all the twinkling high-rises.
Nils-Arne Schroeder, general manager of Conrad Seoul, was also quick to mention the 38-floor property’s unique vantage on the city, citing “view, view, view” as one of the top reasons the hotel will appeal to U.S. travelers.
“The majority of the guestrooms — over 80 percent — boast breathtaking views of the Han River, Namsan Mountain and the Seoul city skyline,” he said.
And for travelers keen to dine in front of incredible vistas, Conrad Seoul’s 37 Grill & Bar restaurant, located — you guessed it — on the property’s 37th floor, not only provides a tremendous lookout over the bustling city, but also a unique steak experience.
“The Tomahawk is a bone-in steak with an 11-inch-long rib bone attached, resembling the tomahawks once used by the native American Indians,” Schroeder said, noting that the steak is typically served in a large portion size great for sharing.
“And the breathtaking 180-degree vistas of the city and river, complimented by a world-class selection of wines, makes any meal at 37 Grill magical,” he added.
Fans of high-tech, modern design will certainly appreciate Conrad Seoul’s guestrooms. My king bedroom deluxe accommodation featured a cavernous bathroom equipped with an HD television in the main mirror.
Conrad Seoul also has dedicated its 8th and 9th floors to health and wellness, offering travelers a massive luxury spa, an 82-foot indoor swimming pool, a 24-hour gym loaded with high-end equipment and, for golf fans, seven indoor virtual driving ranges.
Located in the up-and-coming Yeouido financial district, Conrad Seoul is some distance from a number of the city’s major visitor attractions, but the property is directly connected to the subway system.
“From Line 5 from Yeouido station, guests can access Gwanghwamun station, where there are many major attractions,” Schroeder said. “By Line 9 from the station to Gangnam is just a 15-minute journey.”
Schroeder also offered an update about the MERS outbreak in South Korea, saying that “the MERS situation in Korea is no longer an issue, since the authority has given a clear report that the country is out of the woods.”
He added that as of July 30, 2015, “the World Health Organization has announced that the MERS coronavirus is under control in South Korea.”
