Villa Del Palmar Brand in Cancun

Sep 19, 2011

Cancun continues to reinvent itself and spread northward in a bid to inspire first-timers to experience the region, as well as to lure repeat customers to come back again. One of the areas seeing new development is Playa Mujeres, a beach destination located about a 25-minute drive north of Cancun’s hotel zone and 35 minutes from the airport. One of the newest resorts is the Villa Del Palmar Cancun Mujeres Beach Resort & Spa. The property has been open for about nine months and finished up the second phase of its construction last month. The resort currently has 156 rooms and suites within a nine-floor high-rise. Upon completion, Villa Del Palmar Cancun will comprise a three-resort complex.

“Suites with the best views are any suite from the third floor up as they have unobstructed views of the Caribbean Sea, Isla Mujeres and Cancun’s Hotel Zone,” said Christian Rodriguez, director of sales and marketing at Villa del Palmar Cancun.

All suites are decorated with marble floors, granite countertops and finely crafted wood furniture. Room amenities include wired high-speed Internet access and flat-panel televisions.

“One-bedroom suites are ideal for mom, dad and two children or teens as these have a separate living area and bedroom, each with a full bathroom,” said Rodriguez. “The living room has a Murphy queen bed, which is much more comfortable than your typical sofa bed.”

Rodriguez also has some suggestions for a larger family group, including multigenerational travelers.

“A two-bedroom suite will give you the comfort of two separate bedrooms, the living area with the Murphy queen bed and three full bathrooms,” he said.

One of the resort’s selling points is that it offers guests both an all-inclusive rate and a European Plan (EP). The EP plan is an excellent option for travelers intending to spend their days exploring the area, which is easy to do via the resort’s complimentary shuttle system. The shuttle runs six times daily, bringing guests to downtown Cancun; to Las Americas Mall, the biggest mall in Cancun; and to the Forum by the Sea mall in the heart of the Cancun Hotel Zone.

Another nearby attraction is Isla Mujeres. Spanish for “Island of Women,” Isla Mujeres was given this name because pirates used to drop off their women for safekeeping as they sailed the Caribbean in search of plunder. Isla Mujeres is a tiny island, only about four miles long and less than a mile wide and right off the coast from the resort. Isla Mujeres is accessible via a 20-minute trip onboard the Ultramar Ferry (often referred to simply as the Isla Mujeres ferry) departing from Puerto Juarez. The island is perfect for those looking for a laidback change of pace centered around diving and snorkeling.

The Playa Mujeres area is also home to the Playa Mujeres Golf Club’s Greg Norman-designed par 72, 18-hole course. The golf course is only two miles away from the resort.

Features and amenities at the Villa Del Palmar Cancun include a full-service water activities center with non-motorized watersports, two outdoor swimming pools, two massage treatment cabanas at the beach and wireless Internet service in the lobby area.

Dining options include Mexican and international cuisine at La Casona and Zama restaurants (Zama also offers a sushi menu every evening on the beachfront terrace). The Palmita Market serves sandwiches and other snacks, and a poolside Tiki Bar with swings rounds out the dining options. Room service is available 24 hours a day as well.

Villa Del Palmar Cancun is offering a special all-inclusive travel agent rate of $99 per person, per night, based on double occupancy.
