From July 23-26, art-appreciative clients can experience the 38th annual Ruidoso Art Festival in Ruidoso, N.M. The event, sponsored by the Ruidoso Valley Chamber of Commerce and first held as an outdoor tent show 38 years ago, will bring together more than 150 artists showcasing unique pieces from around the nation.
Locals and out-of-towners alike can head to the Ruidoso Convention Center to enjoy every major category of art such as jewelry, photography, sculpture and weaving. New to this year’s festival is a tasting of New Mexico wines and gourmet food.
“The art festival is a significant visual experience, and we encourage all New Mexicans and their visitors to take part in this special event,” said Michael Cerletti, secretary of the New Mexico Tourism Department.
A silent auction will also be available on Saturday for those who wish to contribute to the Chamber’s Special Project Fund, which finances philanthropic events in local communities.
Entertainment will take place on Thursday, July 23, with a performance by world-renowned cellist Zuill Bailey at 8 p.m. at the convention center’s Performing Arts Hall. Tickets are $30.
The festival officially opens on Friday, July 24, at noon at the convention center. Clients can attend a cocktail party where guests can mingle with artists while wine tasting and listening to entertainment by Latin rock band Del Castillo at 8 p.m.
The art show continues on Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., followed by events such as a gallery walk, salsa dance classes, a Mexican buffet and a salsa dance concert in the evening.
Festivities conclude on Sunday, July 26, with show hours to commence from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for children under age 16. Two-day passes are available for $8 and three-day passes for $12.
